The Swanson Contemporary Gallery will focus on three artists currently working within the region:

Jacob Heustis

Louisville native Heustis creates both large and small scale works of complex simplicity — intelligence combined with wit and a surprisingly pointed critique of contemporary life. He also a member of Wax Fang, one of Louisville’s most prominent rock bands.

Rodney Hatfield

Part of the original Hatfields of Eastern Kentucky, Hatfield now lives in Louisville. Painting under the name Art Snake, his vibrant and sought after works reflect his eccentric youth where musicians, snake handlers, and itinerate preachers ruled the hollers. He is also a renown harmonic player and singer.

Patrick Smith

Patrick Smith hails from Newark NJ and is a recent graduate of Transylvania University. He has already had two solo shows at Swanson Contemporary where his work has landed in some of the most important collections in the region, including 21C.

Swanson Contemporary, Located in East Market Gallery district of NuLu, began operating in the spring of 1998 and showcases contemporary national and regional artists with an emphasis on energetic and challenging works in video, installation, photography, conceptual art, painting, performance and sculpture.
