Paul Owen Fund
Paul Owen is now in his thiry-seventh season as Resident Scenic Designer and has designed all productions (except seven) in the 31 year history of the Humana Festival. He has designed lights and costumes for numerous plays in addition to his primary task of designing environments for the majority of Actors Theatre’s productions; all of Actors’ 12 international tours; national tours to Baltimore, the Kennedy Center and the Spoleto Festival, and seven state tours of Kentucky. Most recently, he has been a guest designer for Syracuse Stage, Florida Stage, Georgia Shakespeare Festival and ACT in Seattle. Paul was essential in Actors Theatre’s building expansions in 1972 and 1994. He is also recipient of the 1992 Governor’s Award in the Arts for artistic achievement.
To commemorate Paul Owen’s remarkable and continuing contribution to Actors Theatre by naming the new Production Studio at 9th and Magnolia Streets for him. This 44,000 sq. ft. space has elated our scenic and prop artisans and greatly increased our capacity to build and test sets in the studio.
