The New Voices Young Playwrights Festival features an eclectic mix of topical themes set against both familiar and unexpected backdrops: in the distant future a young man must learn how to say goodbye to what he holds most dear; a variety show act goes awry and the attempt to recover becomes the main attraction; and two assassins choose between falling in love and following their orders. Selected from more than 400 entries in the annual New Voices Ten-Minute Play Contest, the eight winning plays feature stories of love, loss, friendship and betrayal, told from the keen and comedic perspective of regional teenagers.
