I really don’t. Let me explain.

Lila grew up in an ashram, but she does not want to go to yoga class with you. Not because she doesn’t like stretching or has no discipline or worries she might be bad at it. Not because she doesn’t like you. The reason Lila doesn’t want to go to yoga class is not easy to explain—but let her try. A disarming look at the precarious process of becoming yourself.

Mallery Avidon is a playwright interested in the intersection of fact and fiction. Her work has been produced by Pavement Group, Target Margin Theater, On the Boards, angry BLVD and Williams College Summer Theater Lab and developed by Playwrights Horizons, Bay Area Playwrights Festival, IRT Theater, Seattle Repertory Theatre, New Century Theatre Company and A Collection of Shiny Objects. Avidon is an alumna of Soho Rep’s Writer/Director Lab, an affiliated artist with New Georges, an artistic associate of Pavement Group and Target Margin Theater, and co-curator of The Bushwick Starr’s monthly reading series. She has taught playwriting in prisons, high schools and universities. Avidon holds a B.F.A. in theater from Cornish College of the Arts and an M.F.A. in playwriting from Brown University.
