Each session consists of six classes, each held on Monday evenings, 6:30 – 8:00 PM. Classes are in the 5th floor rehearsal halls of Actors Theatre at 315 W. Market St.
TUITION for each session of six classes is $180.
Classes are designed for adult students, age 19 and older. Teaching is based on a realistic, naturalistic approach to stage acting through text analysis skills. Students work on selected monologues, scenes, and cold readings..
No prior experience is needed. Previous students are welcome. Class size is limited to assure individualized and personalized attention. We provide a safe environment where you can take risks and learn about:
- Business aspects of acting such as photos, resumes, agents, etc.
- Physical and vocal skills
- Relaxation, focus, concentration
- How to audition
- How to make the most of your rehearsals
- How to have fun and reconnect with your creative instincts
Classes are filled on a first-come basis. Each student works at his or her own skill level and pace. Classes are held in the 5th floor rehearsal halls of the Administration Building at 315 W. Market St., Louisville. We reserve the right to cancel this class and return application fees based on a minimum number of registrations. Refunds are not offered for missed classes.
Zan Sawyer-Dailey, a professional actor and teacher for over 30 years, teaches all classes. As Casting Director at Actors Theatre of Louisville from 1985 to 2016, she has seen many thousands of professional auditions. She has taught acting at Cornell University, Brandeis University, Butler University, The University of Louisville, Bellarmine University, Iowa University, and Kentucky Shakespeare in the Park. She is a Master Teacher for the Professional Theatre Training Program at Actors Theatre. She has a Master of Fine Arts from Florida State University and a BA in Theatre Arts from Butler University. She trained professionally at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England.
