Carrie RavenStem

Carrie RavenStem is co-founder of contemporary music ensemble A/Tonal and clarinet duo La HERmandad. An advocate of living music, her commissions/consortiums include composers Jenni Brandon, Gabriela Ortiz, Jeremy Beck, Daniel Gilliam, Paul Schoenfeld, Fred Speck, Margaret Brouwer, and Erich Stem. In April 2022 she performed the world premiere of Firefly for Eb clarinet and Concert Band at Indiana University Southeast, written by Erich Stem and commissioned by the IUS Concert Band. In June 2022 she premiered the new Jenni Brandon clarinet duo The Mountain at the International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest. In 2023 she presented the world premiere of Sonata for clarinet and piano by Margaret Brouwer, and the world premiere at the International Clarinet Association 50th Anniversary ClarinetFest, of Erich Stem’s clarinet duo, re:CONNECT. She has been artist-in-residence at Navarro College, University of Tennessee Martin, and recently performed at the Music by Women International Festival at Mississippi University for Women. Carrie is a member of the International Clarinet Association New Music Committee and is the International Clarinet Association Composition Competition Coordinator. She is also a board member of the New Works Project. She is a Backun Performing Artist and Silverstein Artist and maintains a busy teaching and coaching practice within her community. She is the mom in a blended family of 6. Her hobbies include crocheting, camping, and making incredible guacamole.
