An alchemist, dreamer, instigator, and new world conjurer, de’jon tells stories as a multidisciplinary maker, producer, scholar, and teaching artist. A first-generation Angeleno and grandchild of the Great Migration, he creates from the many movement languages in conversation in his body and primarily builds on the global legacies of Afrodiasporic social and club dance styles. He holds an MFA in Choreography and Performance from Florida State University and a BA in Theatre & Performance Studies from Georgetown University. Most notable credits include: the world premiere of the opera, Witness!, by Solange Knowles, music videos for Aluna, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, a TV spotlight on Claws (TNT), as well as performance highlights with Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Leyla McCallah and Kiyoko McCrae, Kristin Sudeikis, KM Dance Project, and Junebug Productions.
