Sidney Edwards is an actress, singer, dancer and improv artist. She is currently an Assistant Professor and the Director of the African American Theatre Program at the University of Louisville. Sidney received a BFA in musical theater in her home state of North Carolina from William Peace University in Raleigh. From there, Sidney went on to receive an MFA in theatre and performance and a graduate certificate in African American theatre from the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY. One of her proudest accomplishments is being awarded a Distinguished Actor award from the Kennedy Center's American College Theater Festival for her performance in Miss Ida B. Wells. Sidney was also honored to perform at the 2017 National Black Theatre Festival. Some of her favorite roles include Amneris in Karamu House's 2019 production of Aida, Sally Bowles in Cabaret (NC), and Squeak in The Color Purple (NC).
