This three week workshop focuses on workshopping writing in progress with an emphasis on development and revision. The course will provide writing exercises and supportive feedback to help you grow as a playwright. Additional exercises to generate new ideas will also be provided.

The course will include writing prompts and opportunities to share writing and receive feedback from the instructor and group.

Participants should bring writing materials to class, paper/pen or laptop/tablet.

Everyone will be given a date to share a 15-20 min excerpt of their writing.

Classes are filled on a first-come basis. Each student works at his or her own skill level and pace. Classes are held in the 5th floor rehearsal halls of the Administration Building at 315 W. Market St., Louisville. We reserve the right to cancel this class and return application fees based on a minimum number of registrations. Refunds are not offered for missed classes.

This class is intended for adults of all ages.

Each participant must submit a 5-10 page writing sample to to confirm registration.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Jane B. Jones, Education Director, is in her ninth season at Actors Theatre of Louisville.  From Culpeper, Virginia, Jones has been a theatre educator in Virginia, Massachusetts, Kentucky, and Scotland. Jones worked for the American High School Theatre Festival at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for nine years.  At Actors, Jones has taught playwriting, acted as Literary Manager of the New Voices Young Playwrights Contest, and headed the theatre’s lobby enrichment initiative.  Jones has developed work with the Professional Training Company and directed in the New Voices Young Playwrights Festival.  Jones’s plays, Dress Up, TMI: a sex-ed puppet show, and her adaptation of Hansel and Gretel have been produced locally. Jones has an MFA in Playwriting from Spalding University; she graduated cum laude from Smith College with a BA in Theatre.
