This six-week intermediate workshop will provide writing exercises and supportive feedback to help you grow as a playwright. Classes will focus on workshopping works in progress with a focus on development and revision. Additional exercises to generate new ideas will also be provided.

The course will include writing prompts and opportunities to share writing and receive feedback from the instructor and group.

Participants should bring writing materials to class, paper/pen or laptop/tablet.

Everyone will be given a date to share their writing: it can be something written before or from an exercise. Please bring one hard copy or send to Jane in advance to make copies.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Jane B. Jones, Education Director, is in her eighth season at Actors Theatre of Louisville.  From Culpeper, Virginia, Jones has been a theatre educator in Virginia, Massachusetts, Kentucky and Scotland. Jones worked for the American High School Theatre Festival at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for nine years.  At Actors, Jones has taught playwriting, acted as Literary Manager of the New Voices Young Playwrights Contest, and headed the theatre’s lobby enrichment initiative.  Jones has developed work with the Professional Training Company and directed in the New Voices Young Playwrights Festival.  Jones’s plays, Dress Up, TMI: a sex-ed puppet show, and her adaptation of Hansel and Gretel have been produced locally. Jones has an MFA in Playwriting from Spalding University; she graduated cum laude from Smith College with a BA in Theatre.
