New Voices Young Playwrights Festival 2017

Inspired by the New Voices Playwriting Residency, the New Voices Young Playwrights Festival, is fully produced by Actors Education and the Professional Training Company. By harnessing the wildly creative resources under its roof, Actors Theatre Education provides an opportunity where young people of all backgrounds are invited to see plays and make plays.

New Voices Young Playwrights Festival 2017

Every year, Actors Education department receives over 500 submissions of ten-minute plays written by middle and high school students in Kentucky and the 812 area code of southern Indiana, some of which were written in New Voices Residencies, Actors Education’s flagship program that teaches the art of ten-minute playwriting. Each winning playwright works with a director and dramaturg to shape their piece for production, and their plays are published in the New Voices Young Playwrights Anthology.

Actors Theatre of Louisville is excited to announce the line-up for this year’s New Voices Young Playwrights Festival, an evening of fully produced, brand-new ten-minute plays written by students throughout the region and presented by Actors Theatre’s Professional Training Company. The seven plays that will be a part of the festival this year are:
