Summary of Position:
The Facility Maintenance Technician, under general supervision, performs a routine and extensive range of work in the repair and general maintenance of facilities, buildings and equipment.

The Facility Maintenance Technician also provides support services to vendors and skilled technicians, and maintains the overall appearance and function of Actors Theatre's facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment at various sites for the purpose of providing and effective working/guest environment, preventing damage and/or limiting liability exposure.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform a wide variety of general and semiskilled maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, electrical, masonry, glazier, etc.).
  • Perform standardized preventative maintenance procedures to ensure that machines and mechanical systems continue to run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Assist skilled maintenance workers with projects (e.g. transporting and/or securing materials, completing specific tasks, etc.).
  • Respond to emergency situations during and after hours, nights and weekends for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Coordinate with skilled tradesmen and/or assigned supervisor(s) to complete projects and work orders.
  • Troubleshoot lighting, plumbing and mechanical problems.
  • Inspect mechanical areas and roofs and report deficiencies.
  • Maintain and perform inventory count.
  • Complete and close work order requests.
  • Support large scope repairs and renovations.
  • Prepare written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.
  • Report project and work progress updates; as well as required project materials and equipment.
  • Maintain recordkeeping on type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment.
  • Transport a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment or obtain from storerooms.
  • Provide excellent customer service through effective, courteous, and professional interactions with guests, clients, colleagues, stakeholders and the community.
  • Carry out all other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by direct supervisor or management.
  • Complete other duties as assigned and approved by the Artistic Producer.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Broad knowledge of mechanical aptitude.
  • Standard knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Word, excel, and Outlook; including use of internet.
  • Skill in reading and understanding diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
  • Skill in efficiently using common hand and power tools; precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Skill in performing basic algebra and/or geometry.
  • Skill in following prescribed formats; and understanding complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 70 pounds repeatedly, either alone or with assistance.
  • Ability to move, climb, balance, and use appropriate ladder.
  • Ability to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and change priorities effectively.
  • Ability to anticipate, recognize and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Ability to take initiative to solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
  • Ability to work with a wide diversity of individuals.
  • Ability to unite and collaborate with staff, stakeholders, community leaders and vendors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent with professional training in one or more trades required.
  • Two (2) or more years' experience in facility care or related industry.
  • Work in all weather conditions.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Energetic self-starter with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Positive, optimistic, and success-oriented personality who enjoys working in a team environment.

Compensation:

Compensation is $16.00 an hour and eligible for overtime pay when scheduled past 40 hours in a week. The range of benefits includes medical and dental insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, paid time off and a 403(b) retirement plan.
